Intel is ready to start producing 4nm chips

It is reported that in the subsequent 7nm process, the 10nm process experienced twists and turns, and the introduction of 5nm processes was later than that of TSMC and Samsung Electronics' Intel, with a momentum to catch up. Their 4nm and 3nm processes are promoting mass production.

"Everyone is on the right track," Ann Kelleher, Intel's vice president and head of research and development, said at a news conference on Monday. Kelleher said that Intel is currently mass-producing 7nm chips and is preparing to gradually produce 4nm chips, and plans to switch to 3nm chips in the second half of next year.

The 7nm process is undergoing large-scale production, and the 4nm process is preparing to begin large-scale production. In the second half of next year, it is preparing to switch to the 3nm process, which means that the gap with TSMC and Samsung Electronics is narrowing.

Late last month, Intel issued an email statement, "Randhir Thakur, the head coach for restarting the OEM business," I have decided to leave his position and pursue opportunities outside the company. He will wait until the end of the first quarter of 2023 to ensure the successful transfer of the new director. In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Thakur stated that Intel plans to surpass Samsung and become the world's second largest wafer OEM by 2030, and looks forward to leading OEM profits.
