Italian Semiconductor High Bandwidth Common Mode Filter Ensures Gigabit Serial Port Signal Integrity

On June 6, 2022, China Italy Semiconductor launched a new common mode filter with a differential bandwidth of 10.7GHz, which can prevent the next-generation serial digital interface from affecting the antenna reception sensitivity of adjacent wireless circuits.

ECMF2-40A100N1, dual channel and quad channel ECMF4-40A100N10 are suitable for high-speed interface specifications, including USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB4, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort. The series resistance of the two filters is very small, only 3 Ω, to minimize eye frame loss and maintain signal integrity. The deep common mode attenuation range (Scc21) of two filters ranges from 2.4GHz to 7GHz, reaching -21db at 5GHz, effectively preventing Wi Fi ®  And Bluetooth ®  Signal interference from the receiver.

In addition to dealing with the problem of antenna receiving sensitivity failure, these filters can also be used for the noise reduction function of general interfaces to ensure that interfaces comply with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) laws and regulations. The built-in chips ± 9kV (touch discharge) and ± 20kV (gas discharge) exceed the requirements of IECC's ESD protection function 61000-4-2 level 4 specification.

These two filters are packed in a compact small four sided flat wire free (µ QFN) with a height of only 0.5 mm. They are suitable for demanding industrial fields and consumer goods, especially for the maintenance of intelligent factory equipment, image systems, medical equipment, laboratory instruments, home automation systems, set-top boxes, smart TVs, game consoles, laptops, tablets and expansion terminals.

The filter evaluation board has been launched in two versions: the SMA interface and the USB-C interface, which facilitate users to connect detection devices and explore more features of filters.

ECMF2-40A100N6 is packaged with 6-pin 1.35mm x 1.4mm µ QFN-6L, while ECMF4-40A100N10 is packaged with 10-pin 1.35mm x 2.2mm µ QFN-10L and has been put into production.
