Normal working state of zener diode and methods for measuring its quality

The voltage stabilizing tube is in a reverse breakdown state during normal operation, and this range can be restored. Don't mistake seeing the word "penetration" for equipment damage. The voltage regulator is also a diode. The diode is a very PN junction made through the characteristics of the PN junction.


Zener diodes are also known as Zener diodes. Using PN junction reverse breakdown, the current can vary in a large range, and the voltage is basically unchanged. The diode has a stabilizing effect. This diode is a semiconductor device that reaches a critical reverse breakdown voltage. At this critical penetration point, the reverse resistance decreases to a very small value. In this low resistance region, the increase in current and voltage remains stable. The zener diode is graded based on the strength of the breakdown field. Due to this characteristic, the key application of voltage regulators is voltage regulators or voltage standard components.




Measurement method of zener diode:


1. Voltage measurement method: This measurement method is relatively simple. We generally use a digital multimeter to directly measure the output voltage stabilizing value of the zener diode using the DC voltage gear. If the measured DC voltage result is equal to the voltage stabilizing value of the zener diode, it indicates that the zener diode is working normally, and also indicates that the diode is in good condition.


Use a tramegger to measure the high-voltage voltage regulator diode. Sometimes it is possible to use a tramegger to check zener diodes with high voltage stabilization. Everyone connects the terminal of the megger to the diode and shakes the handle of the megger at the rated speed. When a megohmmeter is found to remain relatively stable to a certain extent, it indicates that this quality is a good regulator diode. If the shaking is severe, it indicates that the zener diode is of poor quality or not at all.


3. Resistance measurement method: First, adjust the ohmic gear of the pointer multimeter to the RX1K gear, connect the black pen (positive electrode of the pointer multimeter battery) to the negative stage of the voltage regulator diode, and connect the red pen (negative electrode of the pointer multimeter battery) to the positive stage. At this point, the indicated value of the multimeter should be particularly large, reaching hundreds of thousands of euros. Then adjust the ohmic gear of the pointer multimeter to the RX10K gear, that is, the resistance value should drop significantly, indicating that the zener diode is in a penetrating state and the diode is in good condition. On the contrary, there is a problem with the zener or it is not a zener diode.
