What is the function of a pressure transmitter? How to connect the wires?

Pressure transmitters typically use metal films or piezoelectric crystals as sensitive components, converting pressure signals into deformation or strain of sensitive components based on liquid level sensors, and then generating electrical signals for export. This article will introduce the functions and wiring methods of pressure transmitters.

1、 The function of a pressure transmitter is to convert the measured pressure into a standard electrical signal and export it, usually a 4-20mA current signal or a 0-10V voltage signal. This electrical signal can be used by PLC, read and processed by DCS and other controllers to achieve real-time detection and control of measured pressure.

In industrial automation control systems, pressure transmitters are typically used to measure the internal pressure of facilities such as pipelines, vessels, and boilers, and convert pressure signals into standard electrical signals for PLCs, DCS, and other controller applications. Real time detection and control of pressure signals can ensure the stable operation of equipment, improve work efficiency and quality.

2、 There are two key types of wire connections for wiring pressure transmitters: two wire and three wire. Two wire wiring is simple and suitable for short distance transmission; Three wire wiring is complex, but it can achieve long-distance transmission.

1. Two wire wiring

The wiring method of the two wire system is as follows:

(1) Connect the positive power supply of the pressure transmitter to the positive pole and the negative power supply to the negative pole.

(2) Connect the output end of the pressure transmitter to the input end of the controller.

(3) Set appropriate ranges and calibration parameters in the controller.

2. Three wire wiring

The three wire system wire connection method is as follows:

(1) Connect the positive power supply of the pressure transmitter to the positive pole and the negative power supply to the negative pole.

(2) Connect the output end of the pressure transmitter to the input end of the controller and the negative power supply.

(3) Set appropriate ranges and calibration parameters in the controller.

It should be noted that the wire connection methods for different pressure transmitters may vary, and wiring should be carried out according to the actual product manual. In addition, before wiring, ensure that the power current is consistent with the rated current of the controller input to avoid damaging the instrument or equipment.

In summary, pressure transmitters are widely used in industrial automation control, environmental monitoring, gas-liquid flow measurement, liquid level measurement, and other fields. For example, in fields such as chemical engineering, crude oil, natural gas, and water treatment, pressure transmitters are widely used to detect the pressure of pipelines, containers, pressure vessels, and other facilities to ensure the safe operation of the system.
