Calibration steps and precautions for pressure transmitters

The accuracy of pressure transmitters is usually expressed as a percentage or decimal, indicating the error range between the output signal and the actual pressure value. Usually, the higher the accuracy of a pressure transmitter, the higher the price. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the pressure transmitter, regular calibration checks must be carried out. This article will introduce the calibration process and precautions for pressure transmitters.

1、 Verification process

1. Preparation work

Before conducting pressure transmitter calibration, preparations should be made:

(1) Prepare a pressure source and a pressure gauge, and the range of the pressure source should cover the range of the pressure transmitter to be tested.

(2) Prepare an ammeter or ammeter to measure the output signal of the pressure transmitter.

(3) Prepare a calibration record card and record the calibration results.

2. Preparation before calibration

Before calibrating the pressure transmitter, the following preparations should be made:

(1) Check whether the appearance of the pressure transmitter is intact and whether the stains are damaged.

(2) Check the wiring of the pressure transmitter for correctness, looseness, or corrosion.

(3) Check if the range and accuracy of the pressure transmitter meet the requirements.

3. Calibration process

When performing pressure transmitter calibration, the following steps should be followed:

(1) Connect the output pipe of the pressure source to the input port of the pressure transmitter.

(2) Connect the output pipe of the pressure gauge to the output port of the pressure transmitter.

(3) The output pressure of the pressure source is gradually adjusted, and the output signal of the pressure transmitter is recorded.

(4) Gradually reduce the output pressure of the pressure source and record the output signal of the pressure transmitter.

(5) The measurement error and accuracy of the pressure transmitter are calculated based on the calibration record card.

(6) The calibration parameters of the pressure transmitter should be adjusted based on the calibration inspection results to meet the accuracy level.

2、 Precautions

When performing pressure transmitter calibration, the following precautions should be taken:

1. Safety first

When conducting calibration checks on pressure transmitters, safety must be ensured to prevent accidents from occurring. For example, qualified pressure sources and pressure gauges should be selected to prevent exceeding the rated pressure range; During the process of pressure transformation and reduction, the output pressure of the pressure source should be slowly adjusted to prevent sudden increase or decrease in pressure.

2. Pay attention to environmental impacts

When conducting calibration checks on pressure transmitters, attention should be paid to environmental impacts. For example, it should be ensured that calibration checks are carried out in strong magnetic fields or vibration environments to avoid affecting the accuracy of calibration check results.

3. Pay attention to the calibration cycle

The verification cycle of the pressure transmitter should be determined based on the actual situation. Generally speaking, the calibration inspection cycle should be determined based on factors such as usage scenarios, usage conditions, and usage frequency. For important pressure transmitters, regular calibration should be carried out to ensure their accuracy and stability.
